PNP embarks on relief mission

The People's National Party (PNP) yesterday launched its first official hurricane relief mission to Westmoreland, marking the start of an islandwide recovery effort in response to the widespread devastation left by Hurricane Melissa.

PNP president Mark Golding commended the outpouring of generosity from both the private sector and individual Jamaicans, describing it as a reflection of the nation's enduring spirit of solidarity.

"We are deeply moved by the compassion and generosity shown by Jamaicans everywhere," Golding said.

"This is what true nation-building looks like: people helping people, regardless of politics. The recovery ahead will be long, but we are committed to standing with our fellow Jamaicans every step of the way."

The party said that the Westmoreland mission is the first in a series of coordinated relief operations that will extend to other parishes in the coming days. According to a statement, the PNP intends to continue working alongside community leaders, government agencies, and private partners to ensure that assistance reaches those most in need.

"We are one Jamaica, and this moment calls for unity and action," the party's statement concluded. "Together, we will rebuild stronger."
