UWI suspends classes at Western and Mona campuses following Hurricane Melissa
The University of the West Indies (UWI) says all teaching and learning activities at its Western Jamaica Campus in St James will remain suspended until Monday, November 10, as the parish recovers from the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
Operations, including classes and scheduled assessments, at the Mona Campus in St Andrew will also remain suspended for the rest of the week, with a full resumption planned for Monday, November 3.
"Our commitment is to ensure that no student is disadvantaged. As a result, concurrent with the return to face-to-face classes, lecturers will proactively post all course materials on the Learning Management System (LMS)," said Mona Campus Registrar Donovan Stanberry.
He added, "If the extent of the hurricane's impact requires you to take a little longer to re-engage, we urge you to communicate immediately with your lecturers and the dean of your faculty. They are ready to provide the necessary special consideration and support as you navigate your personal recovery."
