Dancehall artiste Stylex burst onto the music scene in 2016 declaring an undiluted love for his 'fatty'.

The song, which went viral on social media, gave the aspiring artiste the break he was looking for, earning him bookings on several top stage shows and the endorsement and backing of several veteran artistes like Beenie Man and Shaggy. In fact, in 2017, Mr Boombastic himself likened Stylex's sound to that of elder deejay Tiger, as he admitted that talents like Stylex deserved more time in the spotlight.

Following up on his debut single, Stylex released See Weh Dem Live in 2017, hoping to build on the momentum from the previous year. Although he achieved some amount of success with that single, not much was heard from Stylex after that. But all that is about to change as the artiste revealed to Weh Dem Up To that he already has plans to stage a comeback this year.

"To tell yuh the honest truth, to how mi see music a run, mi never really did a pree it dat seriously because a nuh talent a run things again, a gimmicks and hype and mixup," he said. "Who yuh see a gwaan wid talent inna di business yah now? Mi couldn't bother join da mixup deh and mi still nuh plan to, but mi a go do some music again because the people dem a say dem long fi some music from me. Me shoulda never stop still, but 2021, I'm gonna do some work and the people dem a go welcome me back."

The artiste says he is 100 per cent sure of that as he saw the reaction of the crowd whenever he made appearances between 2017 and 2019. He said all that attention came from just the Me Love My Fatty single.

"Mi frighten fi see the feedback weh mi still get from people same way wid just the one song. Mi know people do millions of songs and dem nuh get the love weh me get," he said. "Music is a thing weh, from yuh have the talent, yuh can just jump on back at any moment and pick up where yuh left off, especially when you still have the support of your fans."

Revealing that he has been working to strike up fresh partnerships with new entities in the business, Stylex says his reputation precedes him, so he is not worried about his future in music. "The hardest thing in music is fi make yuh name. But mi have a product now and a just feed mi fi feed people it. A dat me plan fi do this year. I'm not even going to kill up myself to get a number one song. I'm just gonna feed the people Stylex," he said.
