Woman allegedly fires gun at partner during heated dispute

A St Mary businesswoman faces serious charges after a heated argument with her partner escalated into a shooting in broad daylight.

Fifty-four-year-old Monica Reid, of Claremont Avenue, Belfield, St Mary, has been charged with wounding with intent following the incident on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Reports from the Port Maria Police say that at about 11:58 a.m., Reid and her partner were engaged in an altercation when she reportedly pulled her licensed firearm and shot him in the neck. The man was rushed to hospital, treated, and later released.

A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched. Following the probe, Reid was arrested and charged.

A court date for her appearance is being arranged.
