Fantan Mojah ready to ‘set the pace’ for Sting

Contemporary reggae artiste Fantan Mojah plans to kick off Sting with a 'fiery' performance, while promising to set a high standard for his fellow colleagues to emulate for this year's staging.

Fantan Mojah has been named as one of the '10 dancehall giants' as a special feature for Sting 2023.

"The people know the fire that Fantan Mojah brings and Sting is an event that has helped mould my career. So it's only fitting to start the fire. When me say 'set the pace', it means I'm bringing the fire, so any artiste that performs after Fantan Mojah, make sure to bring your 'A' game," he said.

"It's been a long time since I've performed for my people on the big stage. Last year, my sister Etana shared the stage with me but this year it's a different ball game," he added.

The Rastafarian singer is known for his positive messages, praises for Jah and his positive portrayal of women, while condemning immoral acts in the music space and in the society through his lyrics. He shared his gratitude towards Sting's promoter, Isaiah Laing, for acknowledging his great work by being named among the 'giants' slated to perform at its milestone staging.

"I am very grateful to know that on the 40th anniversary of Sting, I am one of the 10 giants. Mr Laing knows the effort we put in Sting over the years and it's great to know that my work is being acknowledged," the Rasta Got Soul artiste told THE STAR.

Fantan Mojah, who is currently on a European tour, said that despite the cold weather conditions, his fans are supportive, and once his tour is complete, his eyes are set on Sting.

"We've been to Italy, Germany, Amsterdam and Malta. It's a bit cold but the show must go on. We took a small break and we are in Suriname at the moment for the big festival here. Once that is finished, we will be closing out with shows in Amsterdam, Munich and Frankfurt before we arrive in Jamaica for Sting 40. We ready!" he shared.

The Most High Jah singer said that following his Sting performance, he will continue to dominate the stage on two shows slated for St Mary and Portland next year.

He also shared that he is set to release his new EP titled Rasta Yaad in February, followed by an album, featuring reggae artistes Sizzla, Richie Spice and I-Noah.

The artiste promised to release a few more tracks such as Confidence and Reggae Music while noting that his hit single Glory, featuring Richie Spice "is doing very well" on all music platforms.

Fantan Mojah had a breakthrough in 2005 after the release of his first album, Hail the King. The album continues to garner successful results worldwide.
