Girlfriend has man in my house while I am imprisoned

Dear Pastor,

I am writing to you from prison. I am here because I am serving time for something I did. I am sorry about it, but while I am here, I am learning to be a better individual. I have a few years to go before I am released. I am worried because I have left behind two children and a beautiful girlfriend.

My girlfriend promised that she would remain true to me, but she is failing. She is having a relationship with another guy and he is sleeping at the house that my relatives are helping me to pay the rent for. My girlfriend has admitted that the guy visits her. She says that they don't have sex because she respects our relationship. But it is hard for me to accept that a guy would visit a woman, especially a pretty woman like my children's mother, and not have sex with her.

Do you think that is possible? She does not come to see me as often as she used to. This also makes me believe that this man is occupying her time. I told my girlfriend not to allow the man to come back to the house, but he is still going there. I still love her, but this man that she has is giving me sleepless nights.

Prisoner

Dear Prisoner,

I regret hearing that you are incarcerated, but it does not make sense fretting about what your children's mother is doing. You heard that she has this male visitor and she admits that he goes to the house, but they are not intimate at all.

You asked me if I believe that that is possible, and you may consider me naive. I have to say that if she says that nothing is going on and you believe that she is lying, you may lose your sanity. So to keep your sanity, I suggest that you accept what she says. You have a few more years in prison before you are released. So what you may need to do is to not focus on this woman. Try and think about someone new, because if you believe that she is being intimate with this man, you would not be comfortable with her when you leave prison.

In the meantime, read your Bible and pray. Don't fret about the situation with this woman, because there is nothing you can do to change whatever she might be doing.
