SUNDAY's Reggae 6 opener was so void of form that NEWLAND LINKS could have reported off a two-year lay-up to win at odds of 3-1, with only two canters and trots, bowling over form players at the start.

MILITARY LIGHT storming against the rail at odds of 17-1 with claiming rider Tyrese Anderson upended bettors in the third event, a rout completed by United States-bred TRAIN OF THOUGHT, who reversed her form, an out-of-class five-length win in the fifth event at seven and a half furlongs.

A payout of $195,455 eluded the best form players, who should try making amends on Saturday by using the trio of CHASING MY DREAM, SPARKLING FIRE and LIFE IS LIGHT for the Reggae 6 opener with a $3.9 million single-winner bonus dangling.

The second event is not to be taken lightly. SMART TRICK has been flung into the seven-horse field by Anthony Nunes to set up stablemates BATTLE ANGEL and KING PYE closing from off the pace.

However, BLU SENSATION and OIL MACHINE could get first run on SMART TRICK, crashing the Nunes party in his bid to whittle away at Jason DaCosta's lead atop the trainers' stakes standings.

It will take a soothsayer to predict how any of four first-timers, two-year-olds, will fare at four furlongs straight, against others with a run under their girth each, more so a blink sprint at four furlongs straight.

The all-button, bar SENOR BISCOTTI, should be activated in the third before simmering down to two selections in the fourth, SKILL AT ARMS and LAURIE, who led and closed, respectively, in the same race last time out.

Wrap the Reggae 6 with two bankers, United States-bred PROPELLANT in the fifth against native five-year-olds, non-winners of four races, and BESTDAUGHTERINLAW, who should blind rivals with speed at five furlongs straight.
