Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Michael Ricketts said St Bess FC is likely to face retroactive action for a missile throwing incident, allegedly carried out by their losing supporters against Dunbeholden players and spectators, at the end of Sunday's South Central Confederation final at St Elizabeth Technical high school (STETHS).

Ricketts described the incident as 'terrible' and 'unnecessary' and argued that Jamaica's football needs to move away from ugly incidents like these that have a negative impact and impression on the game locally.

"The game (South Central final) went through (to the end). So in terms of the game finishing, everything went fine. The game ended with a minute time added based on investigation. But from my own perspective it was terrible, it was bad and it was totally unnecessary," Ricketts stated.

Ricketts said the federation has to take a stance against such incidents, as they are trying their best to prevent this type of behaviour, which was prevalent in the 80s and 90s, from creeping back into the game.

COURSEOFACTION

"We are not supporting that type of behaviour, we are trying to get away from those types of things, so we are waiting on the (match) report," Ricketts noted. "When I asked today (Monday) the match report had not yet come in. But certainly there will have to be some action, but we are waiting on the commissioner's report, which usually comes in within 24 hours, so definitely by tomorrow (today) we will look at the report and decide on the course of action," Ricketts said.

Meanwhile, despite the heart break of just missing out on the Premier League play-offs for the third year running, St Bess coach, Linval 'Palla' Wilson, says he understand the pain the spectators felt, but underlined such indiscipline cannot be tolerated.

"We don't really support that, we don't condone indiscipline. Because it's a sport and at the end of the day you win some and you lose some and we understand that. So we are trying our best to educate them (supporters)," Wilson said.
