Woman suffering from renal failure begs for help
For the past two years, Tiziana Rose's life has been a sea of sorrow and agony.
The 25-year-old told THE STAR that life has been throwing her curve balls since February 2018 when she lost her job. Soon after, she was admitted to the hospital for months as doctors struggled to find the cause of her discomfort. It was not until last March that Rose was diagnosed with renal failure.
With tears in her eyes, she said that the medical bills have left her weary. She is in dire need of assistance to do her weekly dialysis treatment, and would love a kidney donor. Her blood type is B-positive.
"Who feels it knows, and God know I have been fighting to stay up because I have no money, and all the savings I had [is] finished," said Rose. "I have to do treatment twice per week, which is $9,000, and I really can't find it."
For sometime, save for a little help from her child's father, Rose has been reduced to begging so her two children can survive, and pay for her treatments.
"It is very rough on me, because sometimes I beg people and they say they will be willing to help, but then on the day of the treatment, I hear that the money never come through. So I have to miss a day of dialysis, and when that happen it makes me really sick," she said.
"At one point, my best friend made a GoFundMe page but because corona did come in, nobody wasn't really donating, so it crashed. My babyfather had also reached out to CHASE Fund and got a sponsor from them and they paid for the dialysis for two months. But I'm back to begging now and trying to get little help from here and there," Rose added
EARLY SIGN
Leading up to her diagnosis, Rose said that from about mid-2019, she realised that she was always easily out of breath.
"They (doctors) couldn't find what was wrong. They said it was high blood pressure and my asthma causing it," she said. "So I was back and forth from Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) to Windward Road Medical Centre, because the medications that I got was not working." Rose said she even started vomiting blood and started to look swollen.
"So I went back to KPH and they admitted me, saying I had a chest infection. Upon doing some blood test and stuff, they found out I had renal failure," she said. "I had to stay in the hospital for two weeks because I had to do peritoneal dialysis immediately."
For the Allman Town, Kingston resident, her condition has been particularly disheartening because she likes to be industrious.
"I'm in and out of the hospital because most time, I'm just not well and I can't even find my medical bill. I have known myself to be working and taking care of my family, and me can't go out or anything. I just need a normal life again," she told THE STAR.
