St Thomas nurse killed in crash
Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie has expressed condolences to the family of Leonie Smith-Wilson, a nurse at the Thomas Infirmary, who died in a car crash on Sunday evening.
"This is distressing news for me, as well as for her colleagues at the infirmary," McKenzie said.
Smith-Wilson, a resident of Llandewey, St Thomas, has been a member of staff at the infirmary since 2015. She was heading to work when the crash occurred.
"She was just 38 years old. I want to express my heartfelt sympathies to her husband, her children, her extended family and friends. I also want the members of staff at the St Thomas Infirmary to know that my prayers are with them. I urge them to be of good courage, even as they go through this unwelcome and traumatic experience," the minister said.
Statistics from the Road Safety Unit reveals that as of Monday, some 107 persons have been killed in road accidents across the island.
