Brilliant Upgraded stays strong

Dancehall artiste Brilliant Upgraded is determined to make his breakthrough in the music industry.

The Montego Bay-born deejay has faced many trials and challenges since he began his music career almost two decades ago, but said that giving up is not an option for him.

"I have the talent and the image to be a star, I know I can make it. So I'm going to keep at it until I get my big break in the biz," said Brilliant Upgraded.

He also lamented that there are not enough avenues of exposure for upcoming artistes in the local music industry.

"In the earlier days, there were more opportunities for upcoming artistes; all of that has changed over the years. Nowadays, it seems like the gatekeepers in the industry have no interest in new talent. Instead of more doors of opportunity opening up for new artistes, all I see is barricades and hurdles in the way," he said.

The hard-working entertainer is currently promoting a new single, titled Be Strong.

"This song is for all the people who are struggling to make it in life. I want them to know that they can overcome their present circumstances if they work hard and stay focused on achieving their goals. Once you have life and you're willing to work hard, anything is possible," said the artiste.

Be Strong was released by his Upgraded imprint along with a supporting video.

Brilliant Upgraded, given name Jomo Bernard, launched his recording career in 2007 with the release of a single, titled Babylon A Burn, on the Germany-based Irie Vibrations label.
